New Plymourh is a town facing Tasman sea in North Island and its population is about 88,900.

There are 2 rail lines from New Plymouth for North Island Main Trunk. The first one is Marton-New Plymouth Line (for Marton, Pakmerston North, Wellington), once there were passenger's rail trains until 1977, but freight trains only now. The second one is Stratford-Okahukura Line. Though this route is currently suspended, there are plans to restore this rail route.

In the North from New Plymouth, there is Waitara Branch. This branch was abondoned in 1999, and now Waitara Railway Preservation Society is operating tourist train on this line.

　ニュープリマスは、北島のタスマン海に面する人口約88,900人の町です。

　ニュープリマスからは２つの路線が北島幹線方面に伸びており、１つはマートン・ニュープリマス線(ニュープリマス、ウェリントン方面)　もう１つはストラトフォード・オカフクラ線(ハミルトン・オークランド方面)です。かつては旅客列車が１９７７年までウェリントンとの間で運転されていましたが、現在は貨物列車のみの運行となっています。もう１つのストラトフォード・オカフクラ線は現在休止中ですが、路線を復旧させる計画があります。

　ニュープリマスから北側には、ワイタラ支線があります。こちらの路線は１９９９年に廃止されましたが、現在はワイタラ鉄道保存協会による観光列車が運転されています。
