The Sri Lanka Coastal Line is a 183.7km railway route that runs from Colombo Fort Station to Beliatta Station in southern Sri Lanka. Like India, Sri Lankan railways use 1,676mm Iberian gauge. Please note that diesel cars run the entire section as it is not electrified.

Colombo Fort Station is a terminal station along with Colombo Maradana Station, where many passenger trains arrive and depart. Commuter trains also run between Colombo and Panadura Station.

　スリランカのコーストラインは、コロンボ・フォート駅からスリランカ南部のベリアッタ駅を結ぶ183.7kmの鉄道路線です。スリランカの鉄道はインドと同じく1,676mmのイベリアンゲージを採用しています。なお、電化されていないため全区間をディーゼルカーが走行します。
　コロンボ・フォート駅はコロンボ・マラダナ駅と並ぶターミナル駅で、多くの旅客列車が発着します。コロンボからパナドゥラ駅までの区間では通勤列車も走ります。

Once beyond Kalutara Nord Station, trains can run at a maximum speed of 100km/h. The double track section from Colombo ends at Payagala South Station.

　カルタラ北駅を超えると、列車は最高速度100km/hで走行することができます。コロンボから続く複線区間はパイヤガラ南駅で終了します。

On the Colombo to Matara section of the Coastal line, trains follow a route close to the coastline. It suffered major damage from the tsunami during the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake.

　コーストラインのコロンボからマータラまでの区間では列車は海岸線に近いルートを走行します。2004年のスマトラ・アンダマン地震では津波で大きな被害を受けました。

Galle Station is a dead-end station, and trains heading towards Matara will turn back at this station.

　ゴール駅は行き止まり式の駅になっており、マータラ方面へ行く列車はこの駅で折り返します。

The fastest train covers the 156.8km distance from Colombo to Matara station in about 2 hours.

　コロンボからマータラ駅までの156.8kmを、最も速い列車は約2時間で走行します。

The section from Matara Station to Beliatta Station was constructed with Chinese capital and opened in 2019. This section follows a slightly mountainous route and trains can operate at a maximum speed of 120km/h. There is a plan to extend the line beyond Beliatta Station to Hambantota, but there are currently no plans to start construction.

　マータラ駅からベリアッタ駅までの区間は中国資本により建設された区間で、2019年に開通しました。この区間は少し山側のルートを通り、列車は最高速度120km/hで運転することができます。なお、ベリアッタ駅の先はハンバントタまで延伸する計画がありますが、現在着工の目途は立っていません。
