The Panama Canal is not the only infrastructure on the Isthmus of Panama. There is a railway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean
The "Panama Canal Railway" is a railway in Panama that opened in 1855. After the Panama Canal opened in 1914, the main transportation route shifted there, but the railway continued to exist because the draft of ships in the canal could be adjusted to allow for transshipment over land. A project to rebuild the railway for intermodal transportation began in 1998, and the new railway was completed in 2001. The track width was originally 1,524mm Siberian gauge, but in 2000 it was changed to 1,435mm standard gauge.
The line connects the city of Colon on the Atlantic coast with the capital Panama City on the Pacific coast. There is a loop in Gatun Lake, an artificial lake located inside the Panama Canal, and in Gamboa. It is possible to operate up to 32 trains one way per day, and on weekdays, passenger trains run once a day. In Colon, passenger trains arrive and depart from Atlantic Passenger Station. Freight trains depart from the Port of Colon or the Atlantic Intermodal Terminal, and the trains can transport double-stacked containers.

この路線は大西洋側の都市のコロンと、太平洋側の首都パナマシティを結びます。パナマ運河の中にある人工湖のガトゥン湖と、ガンボアに列車の交換設備があります。１日あたり片道で最大32本の列車を運転することが可能で、平日には旅客列車が１日１往復走ります。コロンにおいては、旅客列車はアトランティック旅客駅を発着します。貨物列車はコロン港もしくはアトランティック・インターモーダルターミナルを発着し、列車はコンテナを２段積みして輸送することができます。

El "Ferrocarril del Canal de Panamá" es un ferrocarril en Panamá que se inauguró en 1855. On the Panama City side, trains depart from Balboa, a city southwest of Panama City. Passenger trains depart from Corozal Station and freight trains arrive at Balboa Port. These stations are a short distance from Albrook Station on Panama City Metro Line 1.
The locomotives are EMD F40PHs they were used by Amtrak in the United States, and the passenger cars were used by Southern Pacific Railway in the US, which have been in service since 2001. A dome car is also connected to the passenger car. Passenger trains depart from Corozal Station in Panama City (Balboa) in the morning, head to Colon, and return to Corozal Station in the evening. The passenger train travels a distance of 76.6 km in approximately 1 hour. In addition, special trains may be operated on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Del lado de la Ciudad de Panamá, los trenes parten de Balboa, una ciudad al suroeste de la Ciudad de Panamá. Los trenes de pasajeros parten de la Estación de Corozal y los trenes de carga llegan al Puerto de Balboa. Estas estaciones están a poca distancia de la Estación de Albrook en la Línea 1 del Metro de la Ciudad de Panamá.
