Egypt, a country in northeastern Africa, has a railway network that spans the Nile River Delta region. This page shows you the approximately 220km route from Alexandria, the second most populous city facing the Mediterranean Sea, to Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
アフリカ北東部の国、エジプトには、ナイル川デルタ地域に鉄道網が張り巡らされています。このページでは、地中海に面する人口第2位の都市、アレクサンドリアからエジプトの首都、カイロまでの約220kmの道のりを紹介します。
Trains depart from Misr Alexandria station. The section from this station to Sidi Gaber station used to be a quadruple track, with one double track used by Egyptian Railways(ENR) and the other by a commuter railway called Abu Qir Railway, but with the construction of the Alexandria Metro, the Abu Qir Railway was abolished in March 2024.
Trains bound for Cairo meet at a junction in Apis with lines from northwestern Egypt, Marsa Matrouh. The entire railway line from Alexandria to Cairo is double-tracked, but the tracks at junctions with other railway lines are still at grade. Please note that most of the lines of Egyptian Railway ENR are non-electrified.
列車はミスル・アレクサンドリア駅を発着します。この駅からスィディ・ガベル駅までの区間はかつては複々線で、一方の複線をエジプト鉄道が、もう一方の複線をアブ・キール鉄道という通勤鉄道が使用していましたが、アレクサンドリア地下鉄の建設に伴い2024年3月にアブ・キール鉄道は廃止されました。
カイロ行きの列車はアピスにあるジャンクションで、エジプト北西部のメルサマトルー方面からの路線と合流します。アレクサンドリアからカイロまでの鉄道路線は全線が複線化されていますが、他の鉄道路線とのジャンクションにおける線路は未だ平面交差のままとなっています。なお、エジプト鉄道ENRの路線はほとんどの路線が非電化です。
The line that branches off from Itay El Barud Station is a line heading west of the Nile River via Kom Hamada to Cairo.
イタイ・エル・バルド駅から分岐する路線は、ナイル川の西側をコム・ハマダを経由してカイロへ向かう路線です。
The train crosses the Nile River just before Kafr el-Zayat station.
列車はカフル・エル・ザヤト駅の手前でナイル川を渡ります。
Tanta Station is a junction station with multiple railway lines. The main line to Damietta, a port city facing the Mediterranean Sea, branches off at this station.
タンタ駅は複数の鉄道路線が乗り入れるジャンクション駅です。地中海に面する港湾都市のダミエッタへむかう幹線がこの駅で分岐します。
At Banha Station, the main line to Port Said, a city in the northwest, branches off.
バーナ駅では北西部の都市、ポートサイドへ向かう幹線が分岐します。
At Qalyub station, the branch line that go through Minuf, which diverged at Kafr El-Zayat and Tanta stations, rejoins. The route from Qalyub station to Cairo becomes a quadruple track.
カリューブ駅では、カフル・エル・ザヤト駅やタンタ駅で分岐したミヌフィーユを経由する支線が再び合流します。カリューブ駅からカイロまでは線路は複々線になります。
Shubra El Kheima Station is the starting station on Cairo Metro Line 2, where passengers can transfer to the metro.
ショブラ・エル・ケイマ駅はカイロ・メトロ２号線の始発駅で、利用者はこの駅でメトロに乗り換えができます。
The section from Shubrah El Kheima Station to Cairo has extensive depots and yards.
In Cairo, trains arrive and depart from Cairo Misr station. Misr station is also called Ramses station. This is confusing for users as the station in Alexandria is also Misr station.
The railway line continues along the Nile River towards Giza and Luxor. The Talgo train runs from Alexandria to Cairo in one and a half hours at a maximum speed of 160km/h.
ショブラ・エル・ケイマ駅からカイロまでの区間では、広大な車庫とヤードが広がります。
カイロでは、カイロ・ミスル駅に列車は発着します。ミスル駅はラムセス駅とも呼ばれています。なお、アレクサンドリアの駅もミスル駅なのでこのことは利用者にとって紛らわしいです。
線路はナイル川沿いにギザ、ルクソール方面へと続きます。タルゴ列車は、アレクサンドリアからカイロまで最高時速160km/hで、所要時間１時間半で走ります。
