| This is a 150.9km railway line of Taiwan Railway that connects Hualien, a city in the eastern part of Taiwan, to Taitung, a city in the southeastern part of Taiwan. It forms part of the railway network in eastern Taiwan called the Eastern Trunk Line, also known as the Huatung Line. The entire line is electrified with AC 25kV 60Hz, and although it is single track, one-third of the route is partially double tracked. On this route, the “Taroko” and “Tze-Chiang” trains, which are limited express trains, and the regional trains(區間車), which are local trains, are mainly operated. 台湾の東部の都市花蓮から南東部の都市台東を結ぶ全長150.9kmを結ぶ台湾鉄道の鉄道路線です。東部幹線と呼ばれる台湾東部の鉄道網の路線の一部を形成していて、花東線とも呼ばれます。この路線は全線を交流25kv 60hzで電化されていて、単線ですが路線の３分の１の区間は一部複線化されています。この路線では特急列車に該当するタロコ号と自強号と、普通列車に該当する区間車が主に運転されています。 Se trata de una línea ferroviaria de 150,9 kilómetros de Taiwan Railway que conecta Hualien, una ciudad en la parte oriental de Taiwán, con Taitung, una ciudad en la parte sureste de Taiwán. Hualien is the largest city in eastern Taiwan with a population of over 300,000 people, and many trains from Taipei terminate at this station. The rail track from Taipei to Hualien is double track, but after leaving Hualien Station, the train enters a single track section.
花蓮は人口30万人以上を有する台湾東部最大の都市で、台北からの電車の多くがこの駅で終点となります。台北から花蓮までは線路は複線になっていますが、花蓮駅を出ると列車は単線区間に入ります。

| The total length of the double line has been 49.8 kilometers, including 25.7 kilometers from Shoufeng Station to Guangfu Station, 9.3 kilometers from Ruisui Station to Sanmin Station, 6.7 kilometers from Yuli Station to Dongli Station, and 8.1 kilometers from Shanli Station to Taitung Station. Construction is expected to be completed in 2027. Once the double-track operation is completed, the number of trains from Taipei to Taitung in less than four hours will be significantly increased by reducing the number of trains waiting to cross. 壽豐駅～光復駅間の25.7km、瑞穗駅～三民駅間の9.3 km、玉里駅～東里駅間の6.7 km、山里駅～臺東駅間の 8.1 kmの合計49.8kmが既に複線化されていて、2027年の完成予定で全線の複線化工事が行われる予定です。複線化が完了すると、列車の行き違い待ちが減少することで台北から台東まで所要時間4時間以内で走る列車が大幅に増加します。 La longitud total de la doble línea ha sido de 49,8 kilómetros, incluidos 25,7 kilómetros desde la estación Shoufeng hasta la estación Guangfu, 9,3 kilómetros desde la estación Ruisui hasta la estación Sanmin, 6,7 kilómetros desde la estación Yuli hasta la estación Dongli y 8,1 kilómetros desde la estación Shanli hasta la estación Taitung. Additionally, in order to avoid the curves of the old route, most sections of the Taitung Line have been switched to the new line, which is straighter.

The stations on the Taitung Line are also famous for their many auspicious station names, such as Pinghe Station(Peace), Wangrong Station(much glory), Dafu Station(great wealth), Fuyuan Station(source of wealth), and Ruisui Station(Fresh ears of rice).
台東線の駅は平和駅、萬榮駅、大富駅、富源駅、瑞穂駅など縁起のいい駅名が多いことでも有名です。

| There are about 18 to 20 limited express trains that run along the entire line from Hualien to Taitung per day. The number of local trains (regional trains) is less than 10 round trips per day. In addition, the Chu-kuang(莒光) express train runs only once a day. 花蓮から台東までの全線を走る特急列車は１日あたり18~20往復程度あります。普通列車(区間車)の運転本数は１日１０往復未満です。なお、他に急行列車の莒光(きょこう)号が１日１往復のみ運転されています。 Hay alrededor de 18 a 20 trenes expresos limitados que recorren toda la línea desde Hualien a Taitung por día. | The fastest express trains travel from Taipei to Taitung in 3 hours and 55 minutes, with most trains taking about 4 hours and 10 to 30 minutes. The fastest train journey from Hualien to Taitung is 1 hour and 30 minutes, with most trains taking around 2 hours. Most of the limited express trains run by a new model called the EMU3000, but some trains run by diesel cars. In the past, the pendulum (tilting) express train “Taroko” ran from Taipei to Taitung in 3 hours and 30 minutes, but now the Taroko is used for trains with many stops. Taitung is a city in southeastern Taiwan that has a tropical atmosphere. The fruit known as Annona squamosa, also known as "Shakadou", is famous.
The current Taitung Station is located about 5km northwest of the city center. This station was renamed Taitung New Station when the South-link Line (a railway line in southern Taiwan) was opened in 1992, and in 2001 the old Taitung Station in the downtown was abolished and the station changed its name to Taitung Station.
台東は台湾南東部にある、台湾の中でも南国のムードが漂う都市です。釈迦頭と呼ばれるバンレイシという果物が有名です。
現在の台東駅は市街地から北西に5km程離れた場所に位置しています。この駅は南廻線(台湾南部の鉄道路線)が1992年に開通した際に台東新駅を名乗り、2001年に市街地にあった旧台東駅が廃止されて当駅が台東駅を名乗るようになりました。
