The Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line is a route with a total length of approximately 100 km that connects Gifu to Toyohashi in the Nagoya metropolitan area.
Nagoya Railway(Meitetsu) is one of the 15 class 1 private railways in Japan, with a total route network of 444.2 km centered around Nagoya. It is the third longest after Kinki-Nippon Railway(Kintetsu) & Tobu Railway(Tobu). The lines can be broadly divided into Nagoya, with the Nagoya Main Line running from Toyohashi to Gifu via Nagoya, the Inuyama Line going northwest from Nagoya to Inuyama and Unuma (Shin-Unuma Station), the Tokoname Line System running south from Nagoya to the Chita Peninsula/Chubu International Airport, and the Seto Line from Nagoya Sakae terminal to Seto. The "Rapid Limited Express'' and "Limited Express'' operated on the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line are connected to reserved seat cars called "Special Cars". When riding a "Special Cars", users must purchase a reserved seat ticket called a "μ ticket" in addition to their tickets of its fare. Some trains use trainsets called "Panorama Super'' which are connected to second-floor observation seats. "Rapid Limited Express" and "Limited Express" operate trains that connect Meitetsu Gifu Station to Toyohashi Station, as well as trains that connect Meitetsu Gifu Station to Chubu Centrair International Airport. There are many curves between Gifu and Nagoya, and while the JR Tokaido Main Line's rapid train takes 19 minutes and the local train takes 26 minutes, Meitetsu's "Rapid Limited Express" and "Limited Express" take 29 minutes. While JR and Meitetsu run in the same amount of time between Nagoya and Toyohashi, Meitetsu has a tough time compared to JR between Gifu and Nagoya. Additionally, trains on the Meitetsu Takehana/Hashima Line depart from Gifu Station on the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line to Gifu-Hashima Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen. However, most users of Gifu Station board the Shinkansen from Nagoya Station, and there are not many users of the Meitetsu Takehana/Hashima Line from Gifu Station. 名鉄名古屋本線で運転されている「快速特急」と「特急」には、特別車という名前の指定席車両が連結されています。利用者は特別車に乗車する際には、乗車券とは別にμチケットという座席指定券を購入する必要があります。一部の列車には「パノラマ・スーパー」という２階展望席車両を連結した車両が使用されます。 「快速特急」と「特急」には、名鉄岐阜駅から豊橋駅までを結ぶ列車の他、名鉄岐阜駅から中部国際空港までを結ぶ列車も運転されています。岐阜～名古屋間においてはカーブが多く、JR東海道本線の快速が19分、普通が26分で結ぶのに対し、名鉄の「快速特急」と「特急」は29分かかります。名古屋～豊橋間ではJRと名鉄が同じ位の所要時間で走るのに対し、岐阜～名古屋間では名鉄はJRに対して苦戦を強いられています。 また、名鉄名古屋本線の名鉄岐阜駅からは東海道新幹線の岐阜羽島駅まで、名鉄竹鼻・羽島線の電車も発着します。但し、岐阜駅の利用者は名古屋駅から新幹線に乗車することが多く、岐阜駅からの名鉄竹鼻・羽島線の利用者はあまり多くありません。 El "Rapid Limited Express" y el "Limited Express" operados en la línea principal Meitetsu Nagoya están conectados a vagones con asientos reservados llamados "Vagones especiales".
