From Hamilton station, North Island Main Trunk goes to the mountain area. There are some beautiful Vanducts and one roop shaped line called Raurimu Spiral. It was very difficult to construct this section, and North Island Main Trunk is discribed as “engineering miracle”.

From Okahukura, the Stratford-Okahukura line branches off towards New Plymouth. This line is currently closed, but there are plans to resume service on the line.

At Marton, the Marton-New Plymouth line joins. From Marton, the North Island Main Trunk follows a route close to the Tasman Sea. The route from Hamilton to Palmerston North is electrified with AC 25kv 50hz.
マートンではマートン・ニュープリマス線が合流します。マートンからは北島幹線はタスマン海に近いルートを走行します。ハミルトンからパーマストンノースまでは交流25kv 50hzで電化されています。
