“The Chizu Express” is a railway line connects the Sanin Area and Sanyo Area.
智頭急行は、1994年に開業した山陰地方と山陽地方を結ぶ鉄道路線です。

The Chizu Express Line is operated by a railway company called Chizu Express, which is funded by local governments and private companies along the line, and connects Chizu Station in Tottori Prefecture and Kamigori Station in Hyogo Prefecture. This line was built for the purpose of running limited express trains from Osaka or Okayama, a city in the Sanyo region, to Tottori, a city in the San'in region, and opened in 1994.
Limited express trains and local trains are operated on this route, and the company has achieved profitability due to passenger income from the limited express trains. On the other hand, the local train service is in the red, because this route crosses three prefectures and few high school students use it to commute to school.
智頭急行線は沿線の自治体と民間企業が出資する智頭急行という鉄道会社により運営されている路線で、鳥取県の智頭駅と兵庫県の上郡駅を結びます。この路線は大阪または山陽地方の都市岡山から山陰地方の都市鳥取まで特急列車の運行することを目的に建設され、1994年に開業しました。
この路線では特急列車と普通列車が運行されており、特急列車の旅客収入で黒字経営を達成しています。なお、普通列車の運行に関しては３つの県を跨ぐため高校生の通学利用が少ないため、赤字となっています。

The "Super Hakuto" is a limited express train that connects Kurayoshi in Tottori Prefecture to Osaka via Tottori Station and the Chizu Express. The trainset used is Chizu Express's HOT-7000 series diesel car. "HOT" in the name of the HOT-7000 stands for Hyogo Prefecture (H), Okayama Prefecture (O), and Tottori Prefecture (T). The maximum speed of this train is 130km/h, and it is a pendulum-type train that tilts its body around curves and travels at high speed. This train runs between Tottori and Osaka in about 2 hours and 40 minutes, at an average speed of about 90km/h. When this train started operating, flights connecting Osaka Itami Airport and Tottori Airport were forced to be discontinued.
The "Super Inaba'' is a limited express train that connects Tottori to Okayama, a city in the Sanyo region, and uses JR West's Kiha 187 diesel cars. Like "Super Hakuto,'' "Super Inaba'' is also a pendulum-type train with a maximum speed of 120km/h. Since the Kiha 187 was designed with a gabled front, it slows down a little when entering a tunnel on the Chizu Express Line. This train runs the section from Tottori to Okayama in about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
These trains run on JR West's JR Inbi Line from Tottori Station to Chizu Station, and on the JR Sanyo Main Line from Kamigori Station.
「スーパーはくと」は鳥取県の倉吉から鳥取駅、智頭急行を経由して大阪までを結ぶ特急列車です。車両は智頭急行のHOT7000形気動車が使用されています。HOT7000形気動車の車両形式名のHOTは兵庫県(H)、岡山県(O)、鳥取県(T)を意味します。この列車の最高速度は130km/hで、カーブで車体を傾けて高速で走行する振り子式列車です。この列車は鳥取と大阪を約2時間40分で、平均速度約90km/hで走行します。この列車の運行が開始されると、大阪伊丹空港と鳥取空港を結ぶ航空便が廃止に追い込まれました。
「スーパーいなば」は鳥取から山陽地方の都市である岡山までを結ぶ特急列車で、こちらの車両はJR西日本のキハ187気動車が使用されます。「スーパーはくと」と同様に「スーパーいなば」も振り子式列車で、最高速度は120km/hです。キハ187は前面が切妻形で設計されてしまったため、智頭急行線内のトンネルに進入する際には少し速度を落とします。この列車は鳥取から岡山までの区間を約1時間50分で走行します。
これらの列車は鳥取駅から智頭駅まではJR西日本のJR因美線、上郡駅から先はJR山陽本線を走行します。

The limited express trains “Super Oki”, “Super Matsukaze” and “Hamakaze” on the San-in Main Line also start from and arrive at this station.
