Line 1 of Polish Railways is a railway line connecting Warszawa(Warsaw) and Katowice, and Line 4 is a bypass line of Line 1. On Line 4, "Intercity" trains can run at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The electrification method is 3000v DC for both Line 4 and Line 1. In fact, Line 4 is the first new high-speed line in Europe, which opened in 1977, but because trains have long operated at a maximum speed of 160 km/h, it is not considered as the first high speed railway in Europe.
In Warszawa, trains depart from Warszawa Centralna station and Warsaw Zachodnia(west) station. Trains running toward line 4 run on the express rail tracks of line 1 from Warszawa Centralna Station to Grodzisk Mazowiecki station.
ポーランドの鉄道の１号線は、ワルシャワとカトヴィチェを結ぶ鉄道路線で、４号線は１号線のバイパス路線です。４号線では、「インターシティ」列車は最高時速200km/hで走行することができます。電化方式は４号線、１号線ともに直流3000vを採用しています。実は４号線は1977年に開業したヨーロッパ初の高速新線ですが、長らく列車は最高時速は160km/hで運行されてきたため、ヨーロッパで初の高速鉄道とはみなされていません。
ワルシャワでは、列車はワルシャワ中央駅とワルシャワ・ザコドニア駅を発着します。４号線を走る列車は、ワルシャワ中央駅からグロジスク・マゾヴィエツキ駅までは１号線の急行線の線路を走行します。
After Grodzisk Mazowiecki station, the train joins line 4, the Central Railway main line. In addition to Intercity trains, freight trains also run on Line 4. The maximum speed for freight trains on Line 4 is set at 120 km/h, and there is a rule that freight trains that cannot reach 120 km/h cannot enter the line.
グロジスク・マゾヴィエツキ駅から先は４号線、中央鉄道本線に入ります。４号線にはインターシティの他、貨物列車も走行します。なお、貨物列車は４号線において最高時速が120km/hに設定されており、且つ120km/hを出すことのできない車両は入線ができないという決まりになっています。
Because trains run at different speeds, evacuation sidings are set up except for the passenger stations. The maximum speed limit is 200 km/h up to Idzikowice, and from there the maximum speed is 160 km/h. Opoczno-Polidnie station is the first passenger station on line 4 for trains from Warszawa.
速度の異なる列車が走るため、旅客駅以外にも待避ポイントが設置されています。最高速度200km/hで走行できる区間はイジコヴィツェまでで、イジコヴィツェから最高速度160km/hに制限されます。オボチュノ・ボウドニエ駅はワルシャワ方面からの列車の４号線における最初の旅客駅です。
After passing the second passenger station on the line 4, Włoszczowa Północna, the maximum speed increases again to 200 km/h. At the Psary junction, the train from Warszawa to Krakow branches off and continues on line 64.
As of June 2024, passenger trains on Line 4 are operating at a maximum speed of 200 km/h, but there are plans to start operating at 230 km/h in the future.
４号線で２つめの旅客駅であるヴコシュチョヴァ・ボウノック駅を過ぎると、再び最高時速は200km/hになります。プサリーという分岐点では、ワルシャワ発のクラフク行きの列車は分岐して６４号線を進みます。
４号線では2024年6月時点で旅客列車は最高時速200km/hで運行されていますが、将来230km/h運転を開始する予定です。
From Myszków Mrzygłód station, it rejoins Line 1. After joining Line 1, the train runs on the outer express line of the double track, arriving at Zawiercie station.
The section between Zawiercie and Katowice stations is a busy area for coal mining and transport, with branch lines branching out to vast yards and mines. Although transportation reached its peak in the 1970s, there are many tracks that are no longer in use, and some have been removed.
ミシュクフ・ムジグロド駅からは再び１号線に合流します。１号線に合流すると列車は複々線の外側の急行線を走行し、ザヴィエルツィエ駅に至ります。
ザヴィエルツィエ駅からカトヴィツエ駅までの区間では、石炭の採掘・輸送が盛んで、広大なヤードと採掘場への支線が分岐します。1970年台に輸送のピークを迎えましたが、現在では使用されていない線路が多く存在し、一部の線路は撤去されています。

ワルシャワからカトヴィツェ駅までの鉄道路線はチェコのオストラバ、オーストリアのウイーン方面へと続いています。インターシティはワルシャワからカトヴィツェ駅までの約300kmを最速約2時間30分で走行します。
