To the southeast of Roma, there is the Roma-Napoli high-speed rail line. This high-speed train differs from the Diretissima from Firenze(Florence) to Roma in that it is electrified with AC 25kV 50Hz rather than DC 3000v. The maximum speed is 300km/h. Some trains depart from Termini Station in the center of Roma, while others depart from Roma Tiburtina Station, which is on the Diretissima line from Firenze. The Roma Sulmona railway line runs parallel to Salone from Rome towards Pescara. The section from Roma to Napoli consists of many tunnels.

The Napoli Afragola station is on the high-speed train line. Although this station is far from the center of Napoli, trains from Rome towards Salerno can stop here.

At Casoria Nord Junction, the line branches towards Napoli Centrale Station. From Casoria Nord Junction to Salerno, trains run on the Napoli-Salerno high-speed railway. This line is electrified with 3000V DC and has a maximum speed of 250km/h. Joining the Napoli-Salerno railway line at the Santa Lucia junction, the train enters the Santa Lucia tunnel, approximately 10 km long. After exiting the tunnel, the train arrives at Salerno Station in Salerno, facing the Mediterranean Sea. The train will travel 222.4 km from Roma Termini Station to Napoli Centrale Station in approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, and 263.0 km from Roma Termini Station to Salerno Station in approximately 1 hour 35 minutes.
