Niagara Falls is about 130km west of Canada’s metropolis, Toronto, along Lake Ontario. From Toronto to Niagara Falls, GO Transit trains run three times a day, and the “Maple Leaf” train, jointly operated by VIA Rail and Amtrak, runs once a day.
In Toronto, it departs from Union Station. All lines are non-electrified.
カナダの大都市、トロントから西へオンタリオ湖沿いに約130km進むと、ナイアガラの滝があります。トロントからナイアガラの滝までは、トロントの通勤鉄道のＧＯトランジットの列車が１日３往復、ＶＩＡ鉄道とアムトラックが共同運行している「メープル・リーフ」号の列車が１往復走っています。
トロントでは、ユニオン駅を発着します。なお、路線はすべて非電化です。
From Toronto Union Station, trains run on GO Transit's Lakeshore West Line. There is quadruplicated-track from Toronto Union Station to Mimico Station, and triple tracks from Mimico Station to Aldershot Station. On the west side of Mimico Station are the GO Transit and VIA Rail depots.
Oakville is a city near Toronto where all passenger trains stop.
トロント・ユニオン駅からはGOトランジットのレイクショア・ウェスト線を列車は走行します。トロント・ユニオン駅からミミコ駅までは複々線、ミミコ駅からアルダーショット駅までは３複線です。ミミコ駅の西側にはGOトランジットとVIA鉄道の車庫があります。
オークヴィルはトロント近郊の都市で、全ての旅客列車が停車します。
At Burlington Junction, CN Railway Halton Subdivision joins the line, and from there, trains travel on CN Railway's Oakville Subdivision. All passenger trains stop at Aldershot station. Between Aldershot Station and West Harbor Station in Hamilton, there is a junction where the CN Railway's Dundas Subdivision, which runs towards London and Windsor, and the CPKC Railway's Hamilton Subdivision, which runs from Guelph to Buffalo in the United States via Hamilton, join together.
VIA Rail the "Corridor" trains then heads west into the Dundas Subdivision. In addition, GO Transit trains bound for Hamilton branch off to the CPKC Railway Hamilton Subdivision. GO Transit trains bound for Niagara Falls and the "Maple Leaf" proceed toward West Harbor Station.
Some GO Transit trains return to Toronto at West Harbor Station. Also, because there is no platform on the main rail tracks, the GO Transit train bound for Niagara Falls that stops at West Harbor Station, which makes one round trip on weekdays, must make a switchback to enter the station.
バーリントンジャンクションではCN鉄道のハルトン・サブディビジョンが合流し、そこから先はCN鉄道のオークヴィル・サブディブジョンを列車は走行します。アルダーショット駅はすべての旅客列車が停車します。アルダーショット駅からハミルトン市内のウェストハーバー駅の間にはロンドン・ウィンザー方面へのCN鉄道ダンダス・サブディビジョンと、グエルフからハミルトン経由で米国のバッファローまでを結ぶCPKC鉄道のハミルトン・サブディビジョンが合流するジャンクションがあります。
VIA鉄道の「コリダー」号はそこから西へダンダス・サブディビジョンへ進みます。また、GOトランジットのハミルトン行の列車はCPKC鉄道ハミルトン・サブディビジョンへ分岐します。GOトランジットのナイアガラの滝行きと「メープル・リーフ」号はウェスト・ハーバー駅方面へ進みます。
ウェスト・ハーバー駅では一部のGOトランジットの列車がトロントへ折り返します。また、この路線の主本線にプラットホームがないため、平日に１往復存在するウェスト・ハーバー駅に停車するGOトランジットのナイアガラ・フォールズ行きの列車は、駅に進入するためスイッチバックを行います。
From West Harbor Station, the train travels on CN Railway's Grimsby subdivision. GO Transit trains pass through Grimsby Station, only the "Maple Leaf" train stops there.
The approximately 13km section from Grimsby Station to Jordan is single track.
列車はウェスト・ハーバー駅から先はCN鉄道のグリムスビー・サブディビジョンを走行します。グリムスビー駅はGOトランジットの列車は通過し、「メープル・リーフ」号のみが停車します。
グリムスビー駅から先、ジョーダンまでの約13kmの区間は単線になっています。
Niagara Falls Station has stations on the Canadian and American sides. GO Transit trains terminate at Niagara Falls Station on the Canadian side. VIA Rail crews will hand over their operational duties to Amtrak crews on the "Maple Leaf" train, and the train will enter the United States and head for New York's Penn Station.
The 132.6km journey from Toronto Union Station to Niagara Falls (Ontario) Station takes approximately 2 hours on the "Maple Leaf", and 2 hours 20 to 30 minutes on GO Transit trains.
ナイアガラ・フォールズ駅はカナダ側とアメリカ側にそれぞれ駅があります。GOトランジットの列車はカナダ側のナイアガラ・フォールズ駅が終点です。「メープル・リーフ号」はVIA鉄道の乗務員がアムトラックの乗務員と交代し、この列車はアメリカ合衆国に入りニューヨーク・ペン駅を目指します。
