From Hat Yai Junction station, the SRT Southern Railway Line in Thailand branches into the Padang Besar branch line, which continues towards Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, and the main line, which continues to Su-ngai Kolok. This page shows you the main line from Hat Yai to Sungai Kolok.  In this section, the train travels through Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces, which are known as the deep south of Thailand and have large Malay-Muslim populations.

　タイ王国のSRT南本線は、ハジャイから先はマレーシアの首都クアラルンプール方面へ続くパダン・ブサール支線と、スンガイコーロックへ続く本線に分岐します。このページでは、ハジャイからスンガイコーロックまでの本線を紹介します。この区間では、列車はタイの深南部と呼ばれるマレー系イスラム教徒の人口が多いパッターニー県・ヤラー県・ナラーティワート県を走行します。

From Hat Yai Junction Station, the South Main Line runs on the eastern rail track. There are seven round trip trains a day between Hat Yai and Yala, three of which start from Bangkok (one special express and two rapid).

　ハジャイジャンクション駅から南本線は東側の線路を走行します。ハジャイからヤラーまでの区間では１日７往復の列車が運行されていて、そのうち３本はバンコクを始発駅とする列車です(１本が特別急行、２本が快速です)。

Yala is the capital of Thailand’s southernmost province, Yala, and some trains are set to return at Yala Station.

　ヤラ―はタイで最南端のヤラ―県の県都で、ヤラ―駅ではこの駅で折り返す列車が設定されています。

The final stop, Su-ngai Kolok Station, is located in the border town with Malaysia in Narathiwat province, and trains run six round trips a day. In the past, the track continued to Pajir Mas Station on Malaysia's East Coast Line, but this route is currently not in use and the track has fallen into disrepair.

In the three provinces of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, there is a strong conflict between Buddhist Thais and Muslim residents, and sadly, some extremists seeking independence often commit terrorist attacks. It is an area where public order is not stable. Visitors to this area should take these backgroud into account  and take extreme caution, including avoiding dangerous areas.

　終点のスンガイコーロック駅はナラーティワート県にあるマレーシアとの国境の町にある駅で、１日６往復の列車が運転されています。かつてはマレーシアの東海岸本線のパジル・マス駅まで線路が続いていましたが、現在このルートは使用されておらず線路は荒廃してしまっています。

　パッターニー県・ヤラー県・ナラーティワート県の３県では仏教徒のタイ人とイスラム教徒の住民の間で強い対立があり、悲しいことに独立を求める一部の過激派の人々が度々テロ事件を起こすなど治安の安定しない地域です。この地域を訪れる際にはこうした状況を考慮に入れ、危険な地域に立ち入らないなど細心の注意を払って行動する必要があります。
