The Taiwan Railway Southlink railway line connects Kaohsiung to Taitung. These lines are electrified with AC 25kv 60hz. Kaohsiung is the second most populous city in Taiwan. The terminal station in Kaohsiung for the Taiwan Shinkansen (High Speed Rail) is Zuoying Station (Xin Zuoying Station) in the northern part of Kaohsiung City, which connects to Taiwan Railway. Taiwan Railway is a public railway line that circumnavigates Taiwan, and uses Cape Gauge (1,067 mm). Limited express trains such as "Tze-Chiang Limited Express" (including "Taroko Express" and "Puyuma Express"), express trains such as "Chu-kuang Express", regional rapid trains, and local trains are in operation. The number of "Tze-Chiang Limited Express" trains and the rapid & local trains are being expanded, and the number of "Chu-kuang Express"has been decreasing over the years. When Taiwan Railway departs from Xin-Zuoying Station, it enters an underground tunnel. The line is underground in Kaohsiung City, and Kaohsiung Station is also an underground station. The section from Kaohsiung Station to Fanliao Station is the southernmost section of Taiwan Railway's Western Main Trunk, and is called the Pingtung Line. The section from Kaohsiung Station to Chaozhou Station via Pingtung is double-tracked. In addition, in conjunction with Taiwan Railway's electrification project between Kaohsiung and Taitung, the section from Nanzhou Station to Linbian Station is being double-tracked. Sections other than those listed above are single track. 高雄駅から枋寮駅までの区間は台湾鉄道の西部幹線の最も南側の区間で、路線名は屏東線と言います。高雄駅から屏東を経由して潮州駅までの区間は複線化されています。また台湾鉄道の高雄～台東間の電化プロジェクトに併せて、南州駅から林辺駅までも複線化されています。上記以外の区間は単線です。 La sección desde la estación Kaohsiung hasta la estación Fanliao es la sección más al sur de la línea troncal principal occidental del ferrocarril de Taiwán y se llama línea Pingtung. El tramo desde la estación Kaohsiung hasta la estación Chaozhou vía Pingtung tiene doble vía. Además, junto con el proyecto de electrificación de Taiwan Railway entre Kaohsiung y Taitung, se está realizando una doble vía en el tramo desde la estación Nanzhou hasta la estación Linbian. Los tramos distintos a los enumerados anteriormente son de vía única. 高雄站 至 枋寮站這段路段 是 台鐵西幹線最南端的一段，稱為 屏東線。高雄站 經 屏東 至 潮州站為雙線。此外，配合台鐵 高雄 至 台東電氣化工程，南洲站 至 林邊站 區間正在雙線。除了上面列出的部分之外的部分都是單軌。
The section from Fanliao Station to Taitung Station is called the Nanhui Line(Southlink Line). When the train leaves Fanliao Station, it enters an area where passengers can see the South China Sea to the right of the train window. From near Fanshan Station, the train enters the mountainous region of southern Taiwan, passing through many tunnels. 枋寮駅から台東駅までの区間は南廻線と呼ばれる路線です。列車は枋寮駅を出ると車窓右手に南シナ海を眺めることのできる区間に入ります。枋山駅付近からは台湾南部の山岳地帯に入り、列車は多くのトンネルを通過します。 La sección desde la estación Fanliao hasta la estación Taitung se llama Línea Nanhui (Línea Southlink). Cuando el tren sale de la estación Fanliao, ingresa a un área donde los pasajeros pueden ver el Mar de China Meridional a la derecha de la ventanilla del tren. Desde cerca de la estación Fanshan, el tren ingresa a la región montañosa del sur de Taiwán, pasando por muchos túneles. 枋寮站 至 臺東站這段路段稱為 南迴線。火車離開 枋寮站後，進入車窗右側可看到南海的區域。火車從 枋山站附近進入台灣南部山區，穿過許多隧道。
Within the mountainous area, the approximately 17km stretch from the central signal station to the Gazhang signal station is double-tracked. From Dawu Station, the train enters a section where passengers can view the Philippine Sea to the east. Near the Xin-Duoliang tunnel No.1, there is a new elevated line built during electrification, and trains run directly above the sea (the old track before the track change is no longer in use). 山岳エリアの中で、中央信号所から古荘信号場までの約17kmは複線になっています。列車は大武駅から先は東側にフィリピン海を眺めることのできる区間に入ります。新多良１号トンネル付近は電化の際に新設された高架線になっていて、海の真上を列車が走ります(線路切り替え前の旧線路は使用されなくなっています)。 Dentro de la zona montañosa, el tramo de aproximadamente 17 kilómetros desde la estación central de señales hasta la estación de señales de Gazhang tiene doble vía. Desde la estación Dawu, el tren ingresa a una sección donde los pasajeros pueden ver el mar de Filipinas hacia el este. Cerca del túnel número 1 de Xin-Duoliang, hay una nueva línea elevada construida durante la electrificación y los trenes circulan directamente sobre el mar (la antigua vía antes del cambio de vía ya no está en uso). 在山區內，從 中央號誌站 到 古荘 約17公里的路段為複線。從 大武站 出發，火車進入一段可以看到 東邊菲律賓海的路段。新多良一號隧道附近，有一條電氣化時新建的高架線，列車直接在海上行駛（改軌前的舊軌道已不再使用）。
The coastal area on the Southlink Line ends north of Taimali Station, and the train heads slightly inland. Zhiben Station is the gateway station to the tourist destination Zhiben Hot Springs, and is the terminal station for limited express trains from Taipei on the Eastern Main Trunk. 南廻線における海岸線のエリアは太麻里駅の北側で終了し、列車は少しだけ内陸部に入ります。知本駅は観光地の知本温泉への玄関口の駅となっており、東部幹線の台北からの特急列車の終着駅となっています。 La zona costera de la línea Southlink termina al norte de la estación Taimali y el tren se dirige ligeramente hacia el interior. La estación Zhiben es la estación de entrada al destino turístico Zhiben Hot Springs y es la estación terminal para trenes expresos limitados desde Taipei en la carretera principal del este. 南迴線的 沿海地區 在 太麻里站以北結束，列車稍微往內陸行駛。知本站 是 旅遊勝地知本溫泉的門戶站，也是 東幹線 從 台北出發的特急火車的終點站。
Taitung is a city in southeastern Taiwan that has a tropical atmosphere. The fruit known as Annona squamosa, also known as "Shakadou", is famous. Many trains run the approximately 160km distance from Kaohsiung to Taitung in over 2 hours, but there are also trains that run in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Puyuma tilting train also runs, although it only makes one round trip a day. 台東は台湾南東部にある、台湾の中でも南国のムードが漂う都市です。釈迦頭と呼ばれるバンレイシという果物が有名です。 列車は高雄から台東までの約160kmを２時間以上かけて走るものが多数ですが、中には１時間45分程度で走る列車も存在します。１日１往復のみですが、車体傾斜列車であるプユマ号も走ります。 Taitung es una ciudad del sureste de Taiwán que tiene una atmósfera tropical. Es famosa la fruta conocida como Annona squamosa, también conocida como "Shakadou". Muchos trenes recorren la distancia de aproximadamente 160 km de Kaohsiung a Taitung en más de 2 horas, pero también hay trenes que recorren aproximadamente 1 hora y 45 minutos. También circula el tren basculante Puyuma, aunque sólo realiza un viaje de ida y vuelta al día. 臺東 是 臺灣東南部一座充滿熱帶風情的城市。其果實名為番荔枝，又稱為“釈迦頭”，很有名。 從 高雄 到 臺東約160公里的路程，許多列車運行時間超過2小時，但也有運行時間約1小時45分鐘的列車。「普悠瑪」擺式列車也有運行，不過每天只往返一趟。
