The Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region is located in the western part of the People's Republic of China, and is a region with a large population of ethnic minorities such as the Turkish Uyghurs. Urumqi is the most populous city in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and there is a high-speed railway with a maximum speed of 250 km/h between Urumqi and Lanzhou, a large city in central China. The electrification method for this line is AC 25kV 50Hz. In addition, all lines of the conventional Lanzhou–Xinjiang Railway, which runs parallel to the high-speed railway, have been double-tracked, and after the completion of the high-speed railway, some of the passenger trains were moved to the high-speed railway, and a large number of freight trains have begun to run. In Urumqi, trains arrive and depart from Urumqi Railway Station. Urumqi South Station, one station ahead of Urumqi Station, was closed for a while, but the station is reopened in 2022. 中華人民共和国の西部には新疆ウイグル自治区があり、トルコ系のウイグル族などの少数民族の人口が多い地域です。ウルムチは新疆ウイグル自治区で一番人口の多い都市で、ウルムチから中国中部の大都市蘭州までの区間には最高速度250km/hの高速鉄道があります。 この路線の電化方式は交流25kv 50hzです。なお、高速鉄道に並行して従来からある蘭新鉄道も全線が複線化されていて、高速鉄道が完成して以降は旅客列車の一部は高速鉄道に移り、多数の貨物列車が走るようになっています。 ウルムチでは列車はウルムチ駅を発着します。ウルムチ駅の１つ先のウルムチ南駅はしばらく休止されていましたが、2022年に駅の営業が再開されています。
There are many stations on this high-speed rail line, such as Yanhu West Station, where the platform is only on one side of the up and down tracks. Very few trains (or no passenger trains) stop at these stations. この高速鉄道路線には塩湖西駅のように上下線の線路のうち、片側にのみホームが設けられている駅が多数存在します。こうした駅に停車する列車は非常に少ないです(もしくは停車する旅客列車が存在しません)。
After passing through five tunnels in the Tien Shan Mountains, the train arrives at Turpan North Railway Station. From this station, the Southern Xinjiang Railway, a line to Kashgar(Kashi), a city in the western part of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, branches off. Additionally, Turpan Jiaohe Airport is located just north of Turpan North Railway Station. 天山山脈にある５つのトンネルを超えると、列車はトルファン北駅に到着します。この駅からは新疆ウイグル自治区の西部の都市、カシュガル(カシ、喀什)への路線である南疆鉄道が分岐します。また、トルファン北駅のすぐ北側にはトルファン交河空港があります。
Hami is an oasis city in the desert of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region with a population of approximately 500,000 people. At Hami Station, a direct connection line from Lanzhou–Xinjiang Railway to Hami Station joins. The main line of Lanzhou–Xinjiang Railway passes through Hami South Station and Hami East Station. ハミは新疆ウイグル自治区の砂漠の中のオアシス都市で、人口約50万人を有します。ハミ駅には蘭新鉄道からハミ駅に直通する連絡線が合流します。蘭新鉄道の本線はハミ南駅とハミ東駅を経由します。
Jiayuguan was a city located on the western border during the Tang dynasty and is now a tourist destination. The high-speed train passes through Jiayuguan South Railway Station. 嘉峪関はかつての王朝、唐の時代などでは西の国境に位置していた都市で、現在では観光地になっています。高速鉄道は嘉峪関南駅を経由します。
In the section from Linze to Lanzhou, the high-speed rail runs on a route far south of the Lanxin-Xinjiang Railway. The train passes through many tunnels in the Qilian Mountains. 臨澤から蘭州までの区間では、高速鉄道は蘭新鉄道から南に離れたルートを走行します。列車は祁連山脈にある多くのトンネルを通過します。
Xining is the capital of Qinghai Province and a large city with a population of approximately 2 million people. From Xining Station, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway branches off towards Lhasa in Tibet. 西寧は青海省の省都で、人口約200万人を有する大都市です。西寧駅からはチベットのラサへ向かう青蔵鉄道が分岐します。
The Zhangjiazhuang Tunnel, which runs between Haidong Station and Minhe South Station, began to develop cracks due to changes in mountain topography around 2016, and a portion of it collapsed in the 2022 earthquake in Qinghai Province. Therefore, a detour route through the Zhangjiazhuang tunnel was constructed with a curve radius of 1,400m, and the maximum speed in that section was limited to 160km/h. 海東駅と民和南駅までの区間にある張家荘トンネルでは、2016年頃から山の地形変動に伴う亀裂が発生し、2022年に発生した青海省の大地震で一部崩壊をしました。そのため張家荘トンネルの迂回ルートが曲線半径1,400mで建設され、当該区間の最高速度は160km/hに抑えられています。
After passing through the tunnel in the Qilian Mountains, the train arrives at Lanzhou West Railway Station. Lanzhou is the capital of Gansu Province and a large city with a population of over 4 million people. The train connects Urumqi to Lanzhou, a distance of 1,786 km, in approximately 10 hours and 20 minutes to 11 and a half hours. In addition, some of the high-speed trains that run on Lanzhou–Xinjiang HSR have sleeping cars attached to them. The high-speed railway becomes the Xuzhou-Lanzhou HSR from Lanzhou West Station, and the track continues east to Xi'an, Xuzhou, and Beijing. 祁連山脈のトンネルを超えると列車は蘭州西駅に到着します。蘭州は甘粛省の省都で、人口400万人を超える大都市です。列車はウルムチから蘭州までの1,786kmを約10時間20分～11時間半で結びます。なお、蘭新第２複線を走る高速列車には寝台車を連結した列車も存在します。 高速鉄道は蘭州西駅から徐蘭客運専線という名前に変わり、線路は東へ西安、徐州、北京方面まで続きます。
