Tokyu Railway is one of Japan's 15 Class one private railway companies, and has routes in Tokyo, eastern Kanagawa Prefecture, and Yokohama City. Tokyu Railway's lines are broadly divided into two: the Toyoko Line system and the Denen-toshi Line system. This page covers the Denentoshi Line, which connects Shibuya to Chuo-Rinkan, including the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line (Oshiage Tokyo Skytree ~ Tokyo Shibuya).
Tokyu Denentoshi Line is a line that connects Shibuya Station, a terminal station in the southwestern part of central Tokyo, to Chuo-Rinkan Station, Kanagawa Prefecture. There is direct service between the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line and the Tobu Railway Skytree Line(at north from Oshiage station). The maximum speed on the Tokyu Denentoshi Line is 110km/h.
The Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line runs from Oshiage (Tokyo Skytree) to Shibuya Station via Otemachi and Nagatacho. The entire line opened in 2003, and in addition to the Tokyu Denentoshi Line, direct service began with the Tobu Skytree Line. All trains, including express and semi-express, stop at each station. All trains operate in 10-car formations and run every 5 minutes during the daytime.
From Shibuya Station, the train enters the Tokyu Denentoshi Line. In addition to local trains, express and semi-express trains run on the Denentoshi Line. Tokyu's streetcar called "Tamagawa Line" used to run from Shibuya to Futako-Tamagawa, and after this streetcar was discontinued, this section was built under National Route 264, and was once called the "Tokyu Shin-Tamagawa Line".
The Tokyu Oimachi Line from Oimachi joins at Futako-Tamagawa station. Oimachi Station was once the starting station for the Denentoshi Line, but now the main route is the former Shin-Tamagawa Line route starting from Shibuya terminal. Express trains run on the Oimachi Line, and some trains on the Oimachi Line connect to Saginuma, Nagatsuda, and Chuorinkan stations on the Denentoshi Line. On the Oimachi Line, express trains are operated in 7-car s, and local trains are operated in 5-cars. Some local trains on the Oimachi Line pass through Futako-Shinchi Station and Takatsu Station.
Saginuma Station has depots for the Tokyu Oimachi Line and the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line. For both lines, there was no land in Tokyo to build the depots, so Saginuma, which was once the Denentoshi Line's depot, was used as the depot. The Denentoshi Line's depot is now located in Nagatsuta. Nagatsuta Station is a transfer station that connects to the JR Yokohama Line, and many of the starting trains are set up during rush hours. The Kodomonokuni Line is a railway line that connects Nagatsuta Station and Kodomonokuni Station, and is operated by two- or four-car trains. There is a Tokyu workshop in Onda, a station on the Kodomonokuni Line.
Chuo-Rinkan Station is the terminal station on the Denentoshi Line and the transfer station for the Odakyu Railway's Enoshima Line. Odakyu Railway's terminal station is Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, and it competes with the Tokyu Denentoshi Line.
The Denentoshi Line express train runs 31.5km from Shibuya to Chuorinkan in about 40 minutes.
