In São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil, there are urban railway train lines (other than the São Paulo Metro Lines) called "CPTM" that uses Irish gauge with a track width of 1,600 mm. Currently, seven lines are in operation, and the lines are electrified with 3000V DC.
The line is a 40.5km meter gauge non-electrified railway line from Guapimirim to Saracuruna in the northeastern part of the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area. There used to be a line from Magé station to Itaboraí, but it has now been discontinued. The train travels from Guapimirim to Saracuruna in approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

This line is an electrified Irish Gauge line that runs from Saracuruna Station to Rio de Janeiro Central do Brasil Station. There is a single track from Saracuruna Station to Gramacho Station, and double track from Gramacho Station to Rio de Janeiro Central do Brasil Station.

Normally, there is a return service between Saracuruna Station and Gramacho Station, and between Gramacho Station and Rio de Janeiro Central do Brasil Station, and passengers must change trains at Gramacho Station.
