The JR Kotoku Line is a route that connects Takamatsu and Tokushima in Shikoku. All of this line is non-electrified single track, but since it connects the prefectural capital, there is business demand, and the limited express train "Uzushio'' is operated.

Limited Express “Uzushio” 特急「うずしお」
The limited express "Uzushio" is a limited express train that runs from Tokushima to Takamatsu. Some trains run beyond Takamatsu to Okayama. The train name "Uzushio" comes from the whirlpools of the Naruto Strait, which generate some of the world's largest whirlpools. Trains travel from Tokushima to Takamatsu in 60 minutes at the fastest time and 70 minutes on average.
The limited express "Uzushio'' is operated by a pendulum-type diesel car, and some trains are operated by a 2600 series diesel car that uses an air spring type body tilting system. Originally, JR Shikoku was planning to increase the number of trains with air spring tilting bodies, which are cheaper than pendulum trains, but the results of test runs on the Dosan Line, which connects Takamatsu and Kochi, were not good (there were too many curves, and there is the problem of insufficient air spring capacity), the expansion of the 2600 series diesel railcars was discontinued to two 2-car trains with 4 cars, and the 2700 series diesel railcars, which are pendulum type diesel railcars, are currently being mass-produced.
The Kotoku Line has fewer sharp curves than the Dosan Line, so 2600 series diesel trains are operated on this line.
