Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and the second most populous city in Vietnam after Ho Chi Minh City. However, since the tram was abolished in 1989, the main public transportation in the city has been buses, and congestion and air pollution caused by automobile traffic have become social problems. Therefore, the government decided to build an urban railway line, and the first metro line opened in 2021.
The Hanoi Metro uses standard gauge tracks with a track width of 1,435 mm and a third-rail electrification system.
Hanoi es la capital de Vietnam y la segunda ciudad más poblada del país después de Ciudad Ho Chi Minh. Sin embargo, desde que se abolió el tranvía en 1989, el principal transporte público de la ciudad han sido los autobuses, y la congestión y la contaminación del aire causadas por el tráfico automovilístico se han convertido en problemas sociales. Por ello, el gobierno decidió construir una línea ferroviaria urbana y la primera línea de metro se inauguró en 2021.

Hanoi Metro Line 2A
Line 2A was built with official development assistance (ODA) from China and opened in 2021. It starts from Cat Linh Station, about 1.5 km west of Hanoi Station on the Vietnam Railway, and runs southwest for 12.3 km to Yen Nghia Station. The entire line is elevated.
La línea 2A se construyó con asistencia oficial para el desarrollo (AOD) de China y se inauguró en 2021. Comienza en la estación Cat Linh, a unos 1,5 km al oeste de la estación de Hanoi en el ferrocarril de Vietnam, y recorre 12,3 km en dirección suroeste hasta la estación de Yen Nghia. Toda la línea es elevada.

Tuyến 2A được xây dựng bằng nguồn vốn hỗ trợ phát triển chính thức (ODA) của Trung Quốc và khánh thành năm 2021. Tuyến bắt đầu từ Ga Cát Linh, cách Ga Hà Nội khoảng 1,5 km về phía Tây trên Đường sắt Việt Nam, chạy theo hướng Tây Nam dài 12,3 km đến Ga Yên Nghĩa. Toàn bộ tuyến là tuyến trên cao.
Hanoi Metro Line 3
Line 3 is a line that connects the east and west of Hanoi city and opened in 2024. The construction of this line has received assistance from the French government and others, and the rolling stock is made by Alstom of France.
As of February 2025, the 7.7 km section from Cau Giay Station to Nhon Station is in operation, and the entire line is elevated. A 4.3 km section is currently under construction that connects Cau Giay Station to Hanoi Station of Vietnam Railways via Cat Linh Station, the starting station of Line 2A. The extension section is scheduled to be built underground, and when this section is completed, it will make railway transfers within Hanoi very convenient.
La línea 3 es una línea que conecta el este y el oeste de la ciudad de Hanoi y se inauguró en 2024. La construcción de esta línea ha recibido ayuda del gobierno francés y otros, y el material rodante lo fabrica Alstom de Francia.
A partir de febrero de 2025, el tramo de 7,7 km desde la estación Cau Giay hasta la estación Nhon está en funcionamiento, y toda la línea está elevada.
