Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner runs between Los Angeles, the largest city in California, and San Diego, a large city near the border with Mexico. In addition, the Los Angeles metropolitan area's commuter rail, Metrolink, runs between Los Angeles and Oceanside, and San Diego's commuter rail, Coaster, runs from Oceanside to San Diego. The total length from Los Angeles to San Diego is 128.0mi(206.0 km).
カリフォルニア州の大都市ロサンゼルスからメキシコとの国境に近い大都市、サンディエゴまでの区間では、アムトラック「パシフィック・サーフライナー」号が走ります。また、この区間ではロサンゼルス～オーシャンサイド間でロサンゼルス都市圏の通勤鉄道「メトロリンク」が、オーシャンサイドからサンディエゴまではサンディエゴの通勤鉄道「コースター」もまた走ります。ロサンゼルスからサンディエゴまでは全長206.0kmです。

In Los Angeles, trains depart from Union Station. Passenger trains run north from Los Angeles to Seattle on Union Pacific Railroad tracks, while south to San Diego they run on BNSF Railroad tracks. Currently, trains from Los Angeles Union Station pass through an at-grade intersection called CP East Diamond on the north side of the station, but a route that can depart to the south is currently under construction, and once completed, trains bound for San Diego will also be able to use the south route.
The train runs on a route west of the Los Angeles River. It crosses the Los Angeles River and joins freight lines from the Alameda Corridor at CP Soto and enters the BNSF Railway San Bernardo Subdivision. The Alameda Corridor is a triple-track freight line with no railroad crossings that was built at great expense and runs all the way to the Port of Los Angeles.
ロサンゼルスでは列車はユニオン駅を発着します。ロサンゼルスから北へシアトルまでのルートでは旅客列車はユニオンパシフィック鉄道の線路を走行する一方、南へサンディエゴまでのルートではBNSF鉄道の線路を走行します。なお、現在ロサンゼルス駅から列車は駅から北側にあるCPイーストダイヤモンドという平面交差を通過しますが、南側へ出発できるルートを建設中で、完成するとサンディエゴ方面への列車は南側のルートも使用するようになります。
列車はロサンゼルス川を挟んで西側のルートを走行します。ロサンゼルス川を渡りCPソトーでアラメダ回廊からの貨物線が合流し、BNSF鉄道サンバーナード・サブディビジョンに入ります。アラメダ回廊はロサンゼルス港まで続く、多額の費用をかけて建設された踏切のない３複線の貨物専用線です。
Commerce Station, the first stop from Los Angeles Union station, is only served by three Metrolink trains a day on weekdays, and all trains pass through on weekends.
At Fullerton Station, three stops from Commerce Station, the BNSF Railway's San Bernard subdivision branches off for Riverside and San Bernard. Amtrak the "Southwest Chief" and the Metrolink 91/Perris Valley Line trains enter the San Bernard Subdivision for San Bernard, Albuquerque, Kansas City, and Chicago. On the other hand, Amtrak the "Pacific Surfliner" and the Metrolink Orange County Line trains go to the BNSF Railroad's Orange Subdivision for Oceanside, and San Diego from Fullerton station.
ロサンゼルス駅を出発して１つ目の駅であるコマース駅は、平日は１日３本のみメトロリンクの列車が停車し、土休日はすべての列車が通過します。コマース駅からフラートン駅までは線路は複々線から３複線になります。
コマース駅から３駅目のフラートン駅では、BNSF鉄道のサンバーナード・サブディビジョンがリバーサイド・サンバーナード方面へ分岐します。サン・バーナード、アルバカーキ、カンザスシティ、シカゴ方面へのアムトラック「サウスウェスト・チーフ」号とメトロリンク・９１／ペリスヴァレー線はフラートン駅からサンバーナード・サブディビジョンへ、一方でオーシャンサイド、サンディエゴ方面へのアムトラック「パシフィック・サーフライナー」号とメトロリンク・オレンジカウンティ線の列車はBNSF鉄道のオレンジ・サブサブディビジョンに入ります。
Anaheim Transportation Intermodal Center Station is scheduled to receive California High Speed Rail trains from Los Angeles Union Station in the future.
At the north junction of Orange Station, BNSF Railway's Olive Subdivision joins and Metrolink's Inline Empire Orange County Line trains head toward Oceanside. The Inline Empire Orange County Line runs from San Bernard or Riverside to Oceanside.
At Irvined station and Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station, some Metrolink trains are scheduled to return to Los Angeles, Riverside, or San Bernard. There is a turnaround train platform at Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station.
アナハイム・トランスポーテーション・インターモーダル・センター駅には、将来ロサンゼルスユニオン駅からカリフォルニア高速鉄道の電車が乗り入れる予定になっています。
オレンジ駅の北側のジャンクションでは、BNSF鉄道のオリーブ・サブディビジョンが合流し、メトロリンクのインライン・エンパイア・オレンジカウンティ線の列車がオーシャンサイド方面へ乗り入れます。インライン・エンパイア・オレンジカウンティ線はサンバーナードまたはリバーサイドからオーシャンサイドまでを走行する路線です。
イルヴィン駅、ラグーナ・ニゲル/ミッション・ビエホ駅ではメトロリンクの列車のうちロサンゼルスまたはリバーサイド、サンバーナード方面へ折り返す列車が設定っされています。なお、ラグーナ・ニゲル/ミッション・ビエホ駅には折り返す列車のプラットホームがあります。
From CP Trabuco, just south of Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station, the line becomes single-track. After passing San Juan Capistrano Station, the train enters a section where passengers can see the Pacific coastline on the right.
Only a limited number of Pacific Surfliner trains stop at San Clemente Pier Station on weekdays. Metrolink trains also stop on weekends.
Oceanside station is the terminus for Metrolink trains and the starting station for San Diego's Coaster commuter rail. The Sprinter commuter train also runs from Oceanside Station.
ラグーナ・ニゲル/ミッション・ビエホ駅から少し南にあるCPトラブコからは路線は単線になります。サン・フアン・カピストラーノ駅を過ぎると、列車は右手に太平洋の海岸線が見える区間に入ります。
サン・クレメンテ・桟橋駅は平日は一部の「パシフィック・サーフライナー」号のみが停車します。土休日のみメトロリンクの列車も停車します。
オーシャンサイド駅はメトロリンクの列車の終点で、サンディエゴの通勤鉄道であるコースターの起点の駅でもあります。また、スプリンターという通勤鉄道もまたオーシャンサイド駅に乗り入れます。
The route to San Diego was originally a single track, but is gradually being converted to double track.

From CP Miramar to San Diego, the train runs on a track that has been double-tracked in recent years. Soon, San Diego's LRT called "San Diego Trolley" runs parallel to it.
San Diego is a city with a population of over 1.3 million people and is located adjacent to the border with Mexico. It forms a metropolitan area with the Mexican metropolis of Tijuana. The railroad also leads across the border to Tijuana, Mexico.
Amtrak "Pacific Surfliner" train connects Los Angeles and San Diego, a distance of 128.0mi(206 km), in approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes to 3 hours.
CPミラマ―からサンディエゴまでは近年複線化した線路を走行します。程なくしてサンディエゴ・トロリーというサンディエゴのLRTが並行します。
サンディエゴは人口130万人以上を有する都市で、メキシコとの国境に隣接しています。メキシコの大都市ティファナとともに都市圏を形成しています。線路も国境を越えてメキシコのティファナへ通じています。
アムトラック「パシフィック・サーフライナー」号はロサンゼルスとサンディエゴまでの206kmを約2時間50分～3時間で結びます。
