The North Coast Line of New South Wales in Australia is a railway line that connects Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, and Maitland, a city in New South Wales. The line forms part of the Brisbane-Sydney rail corridor. The long-distance express train "XPT" runs once a day from Brisbane to Sydney. The train will cover the 988km distance from Brisbane to Sydney in approximately 14 hours and 10 minutes.
"XPT" departs from Roma Street Station in Brisbane. The width of the Queensland Railway track that runs through Brisbane is 1,067 mm gauge, which is different from the 1,435 mm gauge width of the Interstate Railway that runs to Sydney. Once the train leaves Roma Street Station, it runs parallel to the rail tracks of Queensland Rail's Gold Coast Line until Salisbury Station.

La Línea de la Costa Norte de Nueva Gales del Sur en Australia es una línea ferroviaria que conecta Brisbane, la capital de Queensland, y Maitland, una ciudad de Nueva Gales del Sur. The North Coast Line branches off from the Gold Coast Line at Salisbury. In Queensland, there is the dual gauge section of 1,435mm gauge and 1,067mm gauge for a while, but the 1,067mm gauge line ends on the south side of the Kagaru loop. At the border between Queensland and New South Wales, trains pass through the Cougar Spiral to cross the mountain range.
Casino Station and Grafton Station in northern New South Wales each have one round trip per day on the XPT train to Sydney. The XPT runs three round trips a day between Grafton and Sydney. Coffs Harbor is a town facing the Tasmanian Sea, and the train travels through an area close to the Tasmanian Sea after passing through the five Red Hill Tunnels.

Dungog Station is the starting station for the Hunter Line, which connects this station with Newcastle Interchange Station, with five round trips a day on weekdays and three round trips a day on weekends.
It joins the Northern Main Line at Maitland Station, and the line becomes the quadruple-track section from this station to just before Newcastle. As a general rule, two tracks are used by passenger trains and two tracks are used by freight trains.
Shortly after the freight line splits at Waratah station, the train enters the Newcastle junction. Trains bound for Newcastle go straight through the junction to Newcastle Interchange station, while trains bound for Sydney turn right and head to Broadmeadow station.
