Taiwan's Western Trunk is a railway line that connects Keelung, a port city in northern Taiwan, to Kaohsiung, a metropolis in southern Taiwan. The Taiwan High Speed ​​Rail has opened parallel to this line, and many long-distance passengers flow there. However, the number of limited express trains and local trains is increasing year by year.

Changhua is a station in the southern part of the Taichung metropolitan area, and the Mountain Line and the Sea Line, which diverged at Zhunan Station, rejoin at this station. Since the non-electrified Jiji Line departs from Ershui Station, diesel railcars are also operated in this area.

　台灣の西部幹線は、台湾北部の港湾都市である基隆から、台湾南部の大都市である高雄までを結ぶ鉄道路線です。台湾高速鉄道がこの路線に並行して開業しており、長距離旅客の多くがそちらに流れています。しかし、特急列車の「自強號」と、「区間車」と呼ばれるローカル列車の運転本数が年々増加しています。

La Línea Troncal Occidental de Taiwán es una línea ferroviaria que conecta Keelung, una ciudad portuaria en el norte de Taiwán, con Kaohsiung, una metrópoli en el sur de Taiwán. Alishan Forest Railway connects to Chiayi Station. This railway is a narrow gauge railway managed by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Bureau of the Taiwanese government's Ministry of Agriculture, and trains run over 70km from Chiayi Station to locations over 2,000m above sea level. The Forest Railway had been suspended due to repeated natural disasters, but the entire line resumed operations in 2024.

As of January 2025, railway elevation construction is underway around Taiwan Railway Chiayi Station.

Alishan Forest Railway conecta con la estación de Chiayi. Este ferrocarril es de vía estrecha administrado por la Oficina de Conservación Forestal y de la Naturaleza del Ministerio de Agricultura del gobierno taiwanés, y los trenes recorren más de 70 kilómetros desde la estación de Chiayi hasta lugares a más de 2.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar. El Ferrocarril Forestal había sido suspendido debido a repetidos desastres naturales, pero toda la línea reanudó sus operaciones en 2024.

In Kaohsiung, the high-speed rail only runs up to Xinzuoying Station in the northern part of the city, which is a transfer station for the high-speed rail, Taiwan Railway, and Kaohsiung MRT. The Puyuma, the fastest train on Taiwan Railways, travels approximately 370km from Taipei to Kaohsiung in 3 hours and 40 minutes.
